Raytheon Navigation Simulator to Debut at Defense Expo; Richard Waldron Comments

Raytheon-logo_EbizRaytheon’s Germany-based subsidiary Raytheon Anschuetz will launch a new navigation simulator at the upcoming Cansec 2013, an annual defense and security exposition in Canada.

The training offering can be installed on ships, permitting offshore operator training of Anschuetz’s integrated navigation system, according to a Raytheon statement.

“This new functionality, developed with VMT, provides a higher degree of realism than traditional shore-based training,” said Richard Waldron, Raytheon Anschütz manager for business development in Canada.

Raytheon co-developed the simulator with Canadian firm Virtual Marine Technology, contributing to the realism aspects of the project.

The training system includes an upgraded visualization system, vessel types, sets of scenarios and geographic navigation options.

The company said the offering was designed for compatibility and full integration with land-based training.

Cansec 2013 will be held at the Ernst & Young Center in Ottawa on Wednesday and Thursday.
