Rockwell Collins Canada has demonstrated full-color video streaming of a wideband high frequency radio through two live over-the-air tests between Ottawa and Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
The company also tested the radio’s ability to facilitate ad hoc Internet Protocol networking on a HF link, Rockwell Collins Canada said Tuesday.
Thirty senior officials from the Canadian Department of National Defence attended the tests.
Lee Obst, Rockwell Collins Canada managing director, said the radio is designed to stream data at rates of up to 10 times faster than systems currently fielded.
Obst added the company also could integrate integrate high frequency networks into C4ISR infrastructure (command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance).
The company has scheduled additional demonstrations of the radio for this summer.
