Cisco to Promote STEM Education Using Video Collaboration Tools; Nitin Kawale Comments

Cisco-LogoCisco Canada is collaborating with Partners in Research and Sheridan College in a program aimed at helping K-12 students explore careers in science, technology, engineering and math through video conferencing with professionals.

Partners in Research’s virtual research on call program offers real-time interactive mentoring and presentations from subject matter experts, according to a recent Cisco statement.

“Through programs like VROC, Canadian experts can better reach students in the most remote areas of Canada and inspire them to pursue higher education,” said Kevin Cougler, executive director at Partners In Research

According to the company statement, Cisco contributed more than $1 million in collaboration platforms for the educational initiative.

“With the flick of a switch, neighbourhood classrooms will have easy video access to compelling experts from around the world, giving students a valuable resource as they embark on their career paths,” said Nitin Kawale, president of Cisco Canada.

The company installed its enterprise-class webcasting and video sharing applications at Sheridan’s data centre to serve as the VROC platform.

Partners in Research will use the technologies to create videos that teachers and students can access on its website.
