Executive Profile: Jeffrey Powell, President of Strongbridge Corporation

Jeffrey Powell, GovCon ExecutiveJeffrey Powell has served as president of Strongbridge Corporation since August 2012 and manages and oversees all corporate functions, including business development, finance, contract operations and human resources.

The 28-year federal government services marketplace veteran sets strategic direction and works to drive business growth for the Sterling, Va.-based strategic communications, information technology services, program support and systems engineering contractor.

Prior to joining Strongbridge, Powell held the executive vice president and chief operating officer roles at Electronic Consulting Services where he oversaw all contract operations and was responsible for business growth, customer satisfaction and quality initiatives.

Powell helped grow ECS’ employee roll and revenues more than ten-fold from 2004 through 2011, helping transform around 70 employees and $12 million in annual revenue into more than 800 employees and $140 million in annual revenue over that period.

The retired U.S. Air Force Senior Airman began his private sector career as a field engineer with Honeywell while he earned an undergraduate degree in computer science from the University of Maryland, University College.

He would then rise to manage IT and systems engineering contracts as director at marketing services firm CBSI Inc., simultaneously earning a graduate degree in business from Johns Hopkins University.

Powell took on his first vice president role while with CBSI, managing the IT division within CBSI subsidiary Averstar, which generated more than $30 million in revenue and employed more than 300 individuals across is federal civilian agency engagements.

He next took on the vice president role at Titan Corporation and managed a division that generated more than $50 million in revenue and had more than 500 employees. He held that position for four years prior to joining ECS.
