General Dynamics announced that it has achieved its CMMI maturity level 3 rating for its ordnance and tactical systems business unit.
The Seattle-based business unit achieved the rating for its precision pyrotechnic and inflation systems design, development and production capabilities, General Dynamics said Friday.
The company said that CMMI best practices help to integrate management and engineering activities into its business objectives to ensure its products and services meet customer expectations.
General Dynamics ordnance and tactical systems also develops solid-propellant manufacturing and low-cost precision munitions.
Dan Paul, General Dynamics ordnance and tactical systems vice president of precision systems said the contract is a testament to the company’s systems-engineering processes and ability to manage program cost and schedule.
The CMMI rating, developed by Pensacola, Fla.-based Technical Software Services, demonstrates a company’s adherence to the CMMI’s system engineering best practices.
