IBM to Develop City’s IT Infrastructure; Alain Benichou Comments

IBM logoIBM has signed a $5 million agreement to overhaul information infrastructure in the French city of Nice Cote d’Azur as the local government aims to achieve sustainability goals.

The company will help develop open applications and other sources of information for citizens and businesses in the designated eco-friendly area, IBM said Tuesday.

“By developing a predictive and open data platform for the Metropole Nice Cote d’Azur, IBM is helping build a new model for smart mobility, environmental quality, energy efficiency and risk management,” said Alain Benichou, president of IBM France.

Under the agreement, IBM’s intelligent operations center will provide a dashboard for city leaders to access and share information in real-time across 46 municipalities.

The platform is designed with analytics and data visualization technology that works to help agencies coordinate response efforts and identify trends on incident scenarios, according to the company.
