Lockheed Receives Prime Contractor Award for ISS Cargo Missions; Rick Hieb Comments

LockheedLogoLockheed Martin has received recognition from NASA’s Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center for its nine years of support to the International Space Station in equipment management and handling activities.

The Large Business Prime Contractor of the Year award gives credit to the company’s involvement in the space program cargo missions that has so far met 20 percent of its utilization goals, Lockheed Martin said Thursday.

Under the contract, Lockheed Martin collects, maintains and packs mechanical, technical and personal supplies for the ISS crew with Bastion Technologies, GHG Corp., LZ Technology, Rothe Enterprises and the University of Texas at El Paso.

“Together we’ve supported human spaceflight at Johnson Space Center for more than 50 years, and we look forward to continuing that relationship,” said Rick Hieb, exploration and mission support vice president at Lockheed Martin.

In 2008, the JSC awarded Lockheed Martin the Large Prime Contractor of the Year distinction for its subcontracting services to help implement an aircraft simulation project.
