Manal Corwin Named KPMG Intl Corporate Services Lead, Tax Policy Principal-In-Charge; Jeffrey LeSage Comments

KPMGManal Corwin, formerly a deputy assistant treasury secretary, has rejoined KPMG LLP as head of international corporate services and principal-in-charge of Washington national tax-international tax policy.

Corwin served as KPMG’s Washington national tax principal from 2001 to 2009 before joining the Treasury Department as international tax counsel in the tax policy office and later serving as deputy assistant secretary for international tax affairs, KPMG said Friday.

As KPMG’s Washington national tax principal, she helped organizations operate and trade in the U.S. and comply with international taxation regulations.

She also helped clients manage tax cases before the Internal Revenue Service.

Jeffrey LeSage, vice chair of KPMG’s U.S. tax practice, said Corwin worked with U.S. and foreign tax policy officials and tax professionals while at the Treasury and aimed to forge partnerships and balance interests.

Corwin is a member of the Massachusetts and the District of Columbia bar associations and has practiced law at Washington-based law firm Covington & Burling.

She has also served as a judicial clerk for then0Chief Judge Levin Campbell at the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
