Symantec President and CEO Steve Bennett has been appointed as the newest member of the White House’s National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee.

Bennett will serve a standard three-year NSTAC term, Symantec said Wednesday.

Established in 1982, the NSTAC brings together industry executives and government representatives to provide the president with recommendations on creating emergency-ready telecommunication services.

“The committee has a long and distinguished record of providing recommendations to the president on telecommunications and information technology critical infrastructure security and protection issues, and I look forward to contributing to that work in the future,” Bennett said.
