URS, ATA Receive George M. Low Award for NASA Support Services

URSCorpLogoA URS Corp. unit and ATA Engineering Inc. have been named recipients of the 2012 George M. Low Award for supporting NASA in the fields of information technology, human resources and industrial development.

URS Federal Technical Services Inc. won distinction in the large business category for its programs that aim to maintain 1,250 facilities at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, NASA said Friday.

ATA was recognized in the small business category for its works at NASA’s laboratories to help operate a spacecraft that was deployed to Mars last August.

“NASA’s industry partners are crucial in our work to reach new destinations and expand our nation’s capabilities,” said Charles Bolden, a NASA administrator.

“I congratulate these companies for winning our premier award,” said Terrence Wilcutt, the agency’s chief of safety and mission assurance.

“URS Federal Technical Services Inc. and ATA Engineering Inc. have set the example for all of us,” Wilcutt added.

URS has 1,100 workers and subcontractors that assess devices and utilities, coordinate logistics activities and provide other services at the Kennedy Space Center.

ATA deployed a 93-member team to the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California last year to help develop the robotic rover Curiosity.
