CGI-logo - ExecutiveMosaicThe CGI Group has renewed a contract with Acxsys and Canada’s Interac Association to continue handling the country’s national payment platform.

The six-year contract extension allows CGI’s Toronto and Montreal information technology personnel to carry forward the operation of Interac Debit, Interac Flash, Interac Cash, e-Transfer and Interac Online processes, CGI said July 24.

Michael Rose, CGI vice president for banking, said the company will aim to maintain the payment technology that processes Canada’s more than four billion transactions every year.

Canadians currently transact through Interac Flash, Interac Cash across 60,000 automated banking machines and Interac Debit in more than 766,000 point-of-sale terminals.

CGI will also manage Acxsys’ operations in addition to services for the Interac network.
