Int’l SOS Helps Clients Manage Security Hazards During Egyptian Political Turmoil

International SOSInternational SOS and global risk consultancy Control Risks have worked together to help more than 100 organizations manage public health risks and emergency incidents amid the political turmoil in Egypt.

The team uses an online tracking platform and a mobile assistance application to send travel alerts and updates for clients traveling to Egypt, the medical and travel security services provider said Wednesday.

“Every situation is different and it is often better to have travellers remain in place than it is to evacuate them,” said Aldric Ludescher, security manager for International SOS and Control Risks in the Middle East and North-East Africa.

“In most cases, it comes down to whether they can continue their business operations whilst remaining safe,” he added.

During the Arab Spring, the alliance helped clients develop evacuation plans and evaluate their organizational tolerance for various risks.

The alliance has also evacuated a number of university students and representatives using commercial air and secure ground transportation.

The staff provides incident management operations from offices in London, Singapore, Dubai, United Arab Emirates and Frankfurt, Germany.
