He was part of the engineering team that worked to provide the Medical Research Council’s molecular biology laboratory with facilities that utilize sustainable energy for operations, according to RMF.
At a 2012 conference held upon completion of the seven-year project, Pinnix said works enabled the structure to minimize carbon emissions by 1,766 tons annually.
Environment-friendly features of the laboratory include an all-glass facade, air-conditioning with chilled beams and heat recovery systems, and controllers for lighting and energy use.
The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh led the official inauguration of the building in May.
