David Dacquino recently joined SkyLink Aviation as president and CEO the Toronto-based aviation and logistics services contractor, where he is working to expand the company’s global reach and partner with larger firms who require the ‘point of delivery’ services SkyLink provides.
Dacquino spoke with GovCon Wire soon after taking on those roles, where he discussed his plans to help build Afghanistan’s infrastructure after the draw down of U.S. forces, what compelled him to join the company after working for many years with larger contractors and a harrowing experience scaling Deanli in Alaska.
The 30-year defense and aviation veteran previously led VT Group, joining the firm in in April 2009 and serving as chief executive officer. Before that position, Dacquino was vice president of leading Integrated Support Solutions for Raytheon Technical Services Company LLC.
Dacquino has an extensive background in the aeronautics, electronics and technical services industries, including serving as vice president and general manager of logistic services for Lockheed Martin Aircraft and Logistics Centers.
He was responsible for more than 3,500 employees at 75 locations worldwide providing field teams, U.S. DoD base operations management and spare parts sales for military and commercial customers.
Dacquino received a bachelor’s degree in aeronautical engineering technology from Arizona State University, and a master’s degree in finance from California State University.
His professional designations include international certifications in management, purchasing, contracts, and production inventory management. He is currently a member of the board of advisers of SOLE – the International Society of Logistics.
In addition, Dacquino serves on the Technical Operations Governing Council of the Aerospace Industries Association and is a member of the Aerospace Advisory Council, Center for Executive Education, College of Business Administration, at the University of Tennessee.
