RTKL Wins Design Award for Work on Military Hospital

RTKLRTKL has received recognition from a school of the American Institute of Architects for its work on the San Antonio Military Medical Center.

The AIA Academy of Architecture for Health presented the AIA National Healthcare Design Award for the SAMMC, which opened in 2011 with a LEED Silver certification, RTKL said July 15.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers chose the company for the project for its prior involvement with an infrastructure program in 2005.

RTKL says the SAMMC is the sole American Burn Associated-verified facility for the Defense Department that occupies a land area that spans 760,000 square feet.

The AIA Healthcare Awards aims to recognize the best design concepts and research efforts to develop healthcare facilities and structures in-line with the economic, social and technological needs of a hospital.

RTKL is a subsidiary of ARCADIS, an international consultancy, design, engineering and management services provider.
