AT&T, EDF Create Building Water Efficiency Toolkit; John Schinter Comments

att logoAT&T and the Environmental Defense Fund have released a set of tools and resources intended to help U.S. commercial buildings save up to 40 percent of water used for cooling systems.

The toolkit is the outcome of a pilot water conservation project conducted at AT&T facilities last year and aims to offer ideas for organizations to adopt a similar initiative, AT&T said Tuesday.

“Thirty-one of our top water consuming facilities are in water stressed regions,” said John Schinter, AT&T executive director of energy.

“EDF helped us find ways to do so that were good for the communities where we operate and that were financially sound,” he added.

Each AT&T pilot facility generated water savings through cooling tower upgrades and free air cooling.

AT&T supports an EDF Climate Corps summer fellowship program that aims to promote water efficiency and assist organizations in areas where water is scarce.
