Deloitte has been named a founding sponsor of a new academic program expected to be introduced at the business school of The University of Texas at Austin starting this fall.
The company intends to provide financial aid to help develop and launch the Master of Science in Business Analytics curriculum and faculty, Deloitte said Wednesday.
Under the initiative, benefactors also become members of an executive council that will work to improve the degree and eventually offer students business-related opportunities and projects required for the course.
Jonathan Trichel, a Deloitte Consulting LLP principal, said a target of the MS in Business Analytics is to hone the analytic skills and knowledge of future data scientists.
Prabhudev Konana, MS in Business Analytics department chair, noted: “The program provides a unique opportunity for students to receive graduate-level training in business analytics, which is being implemented in virtually all aspects of the economy.”
According to Deloitte, the one-year degree under the academy’s department of information, risk and operations management aims to extract business-related concepts from different subject areas from information technology, statistics to research and development.
