HP to Help NZ Federal Agency Refresh IT Systems; Mike Prieto Comments

HPLogoHewlett-Packard will help a government agency update its information technology systems and expand data storage facilities in a move to extend services for nearly 159,000 citizens in New Zealand.

The Northland Regional Council seeks to update its IT infrastructure, which includes applications used by 176 employees to accomplish and monitor business activities, HP said Tuesday.

HP Converged Infrastructure products are intended to provide NRC data centers equipment and tools that work to collect, process and transmit large amount of information without causing virtual networks to crash or lag.

“Rapid data growth created by greater demand for citizen services can hamper a government agency’s ability to deliver services,” said Mike Prieto, HP Storage vice president and general manager for Asia-Pacific and Japan.

Prieto added the company aims to help the NRC maintain uninterrupted access to data and applications for constituents and employees.

The NRC manages coastal navigation, emergency, environmental, and public transportation services in northern New Zealand.
