northrop-Grumman_BLUENorthrop Grumman has invited two winning teams of a drone building competition in the United Arab Emirates to participate at an Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International symposium in Washington.

Two groups of Arab students will display unmanned aerial vehicles they have designed and built at the ongoing event at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, Northrop said Wednesday.

“During the conference, these talented students will be able to interact with leaders in the field of unmanned systems, as well as witness live air, ground and maritime demonstrations,” said Dave Perry, Northrop Grumman corporate vice president and chief global business development officer.

Additionally, the students will present their drone technologies to U.S. government officials, academic institutions and industry representatives.

Northrop sponsored the 2013 U.A.E Innovation Challenge Flying Competition and mentored 77 participants from the Higher Colleges of Technology.

The company says it is interested in events that promote learning in science, technology, engineering and math.
