MAXIMUS said it will host a two-day conference at the Renaissance Arlington Capital View Hotel in Arlington, Va. that will focus on communications in the healthcare community.
The Maximus Center for Health Literacy said it will co-host the Plain Talk in Complex Times conference, September 26 to 27, with the American Public Health Association, the company announced Thursday.
During the conference, public health experts, medical practitioners, researchers, writers, translators and media professionals will get to access plenary presentations, discussion panels and breakout sessions intended to help attendees develop best practices needed to communicate online and in print about the health industry.
“The Plain Talk audience members, all of whom have an interest in improving communication, are eager to share experiences and learn from an extraordinary group of speakers,” said Penny Lane, Maximus Center for Health Literacy vice president.
Lane added, “Foremost on many minds is the October 1 deadline, when brand new health insurance exchanges are tasked with the enormous challenge of reaching uninsured citizens, some of whom communicate in different languages and at different literacy levels.”
Some of the industry experts scheduled to speak at the conference are Maria Cardona, Daniel Patrick Forrester, Lisa Schwartz, Deborah Tannen, Susan Weinschenk and Andrew Wilson.
