Phil Sorgen, former Microsoft head of U.S. small and midmarket solutions and partners group, has been appointed corporate vice president of the worldwide partner group.
The 17-year company veteran will oversee sales and marketing teams that aim to help Microsoft partners capitalize on enterprise mobility, big data, cloud computing and social technologies, Microsoft said Thursday.
He succeeds Jon Roskill, who held the position for three years and will report to Vahe Torossian, corporate VP of worldwide SMS&P.
“Phil’s rich leadership experience in working with our customers and partners in the United States and Canada makes him an ideal fit to help our partners drive new opportunities as Microsoft transforms into a company delivering devices and high-value cloud services,” Torossian said.
Sorgen and Torossian have worked on multiple strategic initiatives for the firm’s global channel partner business.
Sorgen has also served as president at Microsoft Canada for three and a half years.
