Mike Twyman on Northrop’s CMMI Rating for DISA Modernization Programs

NorthropLogoNorthrop Grumman Corp. has received the Software Engineering Institute’s highest rating for its implementation of two modernization programs for the U.S. Defense Information Systems Agency.

The company has obtained the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) for development level 5 as contractor for DISA’s  a joint command and control system used to provide information for the armed forces operational chain of command, Northrop said Wednesday.

CMMI outlines a set of standards to evaluate the capabilities of an organization to offer engineering services and solutions to help improve processes and operations.

“This achievement demonstrates Northrop Grumman’s ongoing commitment to deliver lower risk and higher performance to our customers,” said Mike Twyman, Northrop’s information systems sector vice president and general manager of defense systems.

He added that external appraisals of Northrop’s work shows the company’s committment to improve offerings.

DISA seeks Northrop’s support to streamline and sustain GCCS-J as a command and control system for military operations as well as develop and consolidate software for logistics planning and monitoring capabilities of GCSS-J.

Minnesota-based Process Assessment, Consulting & Training LLC reviewed the company’s services in the two programs based on the Standard CMMI Appraisal Method for Process Improvement Class A methodology.
