Northrop Launches B-2 Bomber History Book

NorthropLogoNorthrop Grumman has published a book that details the history and technology surrounding development of the B-2 bomber for the U.S. Air Force.

“B-2: The Spirit of Innovation” was written by Rebecca Grant, political analyst and IRIS Independent Research president and was unveiled during the Air Force Association’s 2013 Air & Space Conference at National Harbor, Md., Northrop said Monday.

The book features interviews with former company, Air Force and Defense Department officials that worked on the B-2 program.

Grant wrote about the technical challenges, breakthroughs, changing customer requirements and engineering of the once-secret bomber that was built to counter Soviet air defense systems.

The book also details the aircraft’s first test flight and its 1999 operational debut during the coalition air strikes in Kosovo.
