Parsons Corp. will provide 24 scholarship grants to undergraduate students enrolled in a cybersecurity education program at the University of Maryland.
The company will also offer mentorship and career opportunities to students in the UMD Honors College’s Advanced Cybersecurity Experience for Students program, Parsons said Wednesday.
“Since our inception in 1944, we have supported educational institutions and organizations in the communities where we operate around the world,” said Mary Ann Hopkins, a Parsons group president.
“We are proud to support these students as they pursue careers in cybersecurity and other related fields,” she added.
“Cybersecurity has become a national priority, and a shortage of cybersecurity professionals has created a great demand for cyber-enabled graduates,” said William Dorland, director of the honors college.
Dorland added the company and UMD will work to help students gain knowledge and skills in cybersecurity..
UMD launched the ACES program earlier this year as the only four-year full cybersecurity scholarship program, under which the first two years are reserved for living-learning activities and the other two are for advanced studies.
