Sanjay Mirchandani, formerly EMC‘s executive vice president of global enterprises services, has joined VMware as senior vice president and general manager for the company’s business in the Asia Pacific and Japan.
The 25-year information technology veteran succeeds Andrew Dutton, who will remain with the company until the end of the year to assist in the transition, VMware said Sunday.
“Sanjay’s rich experience as an IT and business veteran — as well as his deep understanding of Asia Pacific markets — will build on the hugely successful contribution made by Andrew,” said Carl Eschenbach, VMware president and chief operating officer.
“Our top priority will be to help customer organizations transform their businesses on their journey to the era of IT-as-a-service,” Mirchandani said.
At EMC, Mirchandani led the firm’s transition to a virtualized and private cloud environment, oversaw seven of its global centers of excellence and helped pursue new opportunities in emerging markets.
He previously held leadership roles at Microsoft, including regional vice president of enterprise services within Asia.
