Alion Science and Technology has recognized the University of Nebraska Medical Center for implementing ethical and safe procedures into research that involves human subjects.
The Alion Council on Accreditation granted the Human Research Protection Program accreditation to the Omaha, Neb.-based medical research institute, Alion said Wednesday.
An HRPP accreditation evaluates how organization conforms to requirements and study practices involving research participants.
Stephen Crawford, Alion HRPP accreditation services executive director, said UNMC followed protocols, regulations and guidelines set to safeguard subjects’ safety during research.
Alion acknowledged clinical and scholastic programs of UNMC, including Children’s Hospital and Medical Center, Nebraska Medical Center, School of Allied Health Professions, College of Medicine, College of Nursing and others.
The center conducts research in fields such as neuroscience, genetics, cancer, cardiovascular and infectious diseases, nanomedicine and drug improvement.
