Northrop Earns FAA Certification for Aircraft Engine; Bob Gamache Comments

northrop-Grumman_BLUENorthrop Grumman has received a supplemental-type certificate from the Federal Aviation Administration for an engine used on special mission aircraft such as the Quest KODIAK 100.

The certificate was award  serves to confirm the capabilities of the Air Claw mechanism to be integrated and used to operate single-engine planes within the U.S. without restrictions, Northrop said Wednesday.

Quest Aircraft helps develop and sell the Air Claw under a collaborative agreement the company signed with Northrop last year.

“The certificate covers an operations-ready configuration and provides a baseline of testing and engineering for customers who may want to further tailor Air Claw to their specific mission needs,” Gamache added.

Northrop says the engine was also designed to enable modifications to interior cabin, external cargo and electrical system components of the KODIAK as well as support C4ISR elements of aircraft.
