Siemens Chief Joe Kaeser Helps Open Russian Refinery Plant

SiemensLogoSiemens President and CEO Joe Kaeser attended a ceremony Friday to help open a refinery of Rosneft in Tuapse, Russia.

Kaeser’s presence at the event was intended to recognize Siemens’ role in constructing the plant, Siemens said Friday.

He also held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in a meeting that also involved Siemens Russia CEO Dietrich Moeller, Rosneft President Igor Sechin and Russian Economics Minister Alexei Ulyukayev.

Putin lauded the contributions of Siemens to the economic and infrastructure development of Russia through the years.

Kaeser said Siemens aims strengthen its partnership with Russia, which started when the first representative office of the company opened 160 years ago in St. Petersburg.

Siemens employs nearly 3,500 workers in Russia.
