Siemens Foundation Names David Etzwiler CEO

etzwilerThe Siemens Foundation, an organization that supports science, technology, engineering and mathematics education across the U.S., has appointed David Etzwiler as CEO, effective October 22.

Etzwiler will be responsible for implementing a strategic vision that expands the Foundation’s reach and impact, according to a Siemens statement released Tuesday.

“At a time when STEM jobs are growing three times faster than non-STEM jobs, the Siemens Foundation is committed to supporting the development of the inventors and innovators of tomorrow,” said Jim Whaley, chairman of the Siemens Foundation and senior vice president of corporate communications.

Etzwiler is a 15-year corporate and healthcare foundation veteran who most recently served as executive director for Decade of Discovery in Diabetes, a Minnesota-based diabetes initiative.

Prior to that role, he was VP of community affairs and executive director of the Medtronic Foundation.

The Siemens foundation gives more than $7 million to STEM educational initiatives each year, according to the release.
