The Verizon Foundation will donate a $100,000 grant to support business owners in New Jersey’s Seaside Park and Seaside Heights that were affected by the fire last month at the boardwalk and Superstorm Sandy in the previous year.
To date, the Verizon Foundation and the company’s employees have donated more than $6 million to post-Sandy relief and rebuilding programs, Verizon said Monday.
“We at Verizon are dedicated to giving back to the communities we serve and where our employees live — especially during difficult times,” said Leecia Eve, vice president of government affairs for Verizon’s New York and New Jersey region.
In March, more than 160 Verizon employees and senior leaders volunteered at Seaside Hights’ Hugh J. Boyd Elementary School to paint classrooms and murals, build new benches and picnic tables, remove weeds and plant flowers.
