ASRC Federal Sponsors 12-Hour Mobile App Coding Event

ASRC Federal Mission Solutions Engineering is one of the sponsors of a 12-hour coding Nov. 13 event of rapid mobile application development capabilities for military readiness and operations.

Charleston Defense Contractors Association also hosted the Charleston, SC-based second annual C5ISR Mobile App Codeathon at the U.S. Navy Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center, ASRC announced Nov. 22.

Ron Mason, ASRC Federal MSE president, said the event proves that developing defense-related software can be “developed rapidly and get them to field even faster, granting our military forces an operational advantage.”

The company’s team that competed for the event are Roberto Vieras, Michael Testen and James SantAngelo. The team was supported by several other employees, including Michael Peacock, Eric Velte and Kyle Lehman.

The ASRC Federal MSE team won second place with its logistics application. Some of the features include Google Maps feeds, standard 2525C symbology, 3D models of material and track assets, and augmented reality.

“Performing well in the 12-hour coding challenge for the second consecutive year showcases our capabilities and further demonstrates to the SPAWAR community that the ASRC Federal MSE team has a robust mobile application development pedigree, and is capable and qualified to help the Navy tackle C5ISR challenges,” Mason said.
