Hugh Campbell is Newest Tampa Bay Ambassador

Hugh Campbell_AC4S_EMHugh Campbell, co-founder of defense contractor AC4S, has joined a Tampa Bay Partnership initiative geared toward promoting economic growth in the region, the partnership announced Nov. 12.

The Tampa Bay Ambassadors program enlists individuals to act as spokespersons for the eight-county west central Florida area.

“You can travel to the beach, go to a professional sports game and have a first-class dinner all in the same day because Tampa Bay has it all,” said Campbell, a Connecticut native who came to Tampa Bay in 1996 when he was still with the U.S. Army.

“Plus, the region has phenomenal assets, such as three international airports and a qualified and diverse workforce. Nothing compares to living and doing business in Tampa Bay,” he added.

AC4S, located at W. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., started in 2002 as a provider of information technology, telecommunications, mission support and cyberspace services to the military.

It has since extended its business goals to include contracts with other federal agencies such as the State Department and the Federal Aviation Administration, and maintains a 200-strong global workforce.

A key project has been to reopen a consulate in Northern Africa, which included reestablishing the food and fuel supply, and providing operational support.

Other initiatives include incident response actions during Hurricane Katrina and the Haiti Earthquake.
