Raytheon Joins White House US2020 STEM Project; William Swanson Comments

Raytheon has signed up for a White House program aimed at bolstering the U.S. workforce in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics over the next seven years.

Employees will participate in a mentorship program as the company will serve as a founding corporate partner for the US2020 project,, Raytheon said Monday.

Raytheon will also provide financial support for the expansion of its student mentoring network in the country.

“Our collaboration with US2020 opens new pathways for our employees to share their passion for, and expertise in, STEM subjects and fields with a wide range of student populations,” said William Swanson, Raytheon chairman and CEO.

The White House aims to connect 1 million STEM mentors with education partners under US2020.

US2020 will also host its first US2020 City Competition to find three to five cities that will share nearly $1 million in direct and in-kind donations for local STEM mentoring capacities.
