Walter Scott to Retire as Level 3 Board Chairman

Level-3-communicationsWalter Scott Jr., chairman of the board of directors at Level 3 Communications, plans to retire as of the company’s next annual meeting of shareholders in May 2014.

Scott has served as chairman of the board since 1979 and was a member of the company’s board since 1964, Level 3 announced Monday.

The company expects James Ellis Jr. to succeed Scott and be appointed during that meeting.

Ellis has served on the company’s board since 2005 and also is a member of the boards at Lockheed Martin, Dominion Resources and Inmarsat plc.
