Executive Profile: Gary Gagnon, MITRE SVP, Chief Security Officer and Cybersecurity Corporate Director

Gary Gagnon - MITRE, ExecutiveMosaicGary Gagnon serves as senior vice president, chief security officer and corporate director of cybersecurity at MITRE Corp. and also leads intelligence divisions at the National Security Engineering Center.

The nonprofit organization runs that federally-funded research and development center for the Defense Department and Gagnon works to support combatant commands and both civilian and military intelligence organizations in his role there, with a focus on cyber issues.

At MITRE, Gagnon is responsible for directing information, physical, and special security functions and also works to develop the nonprofit’s cybersecurity strategy and program activities for its FFRDCs and government customers.

Since joining MITRE in 1986 from Harris Corp., he has worked on projects realted to systems engineering, research and analysis, cyber assurance and law enforcement, computer forensic and many others.

Notably, he has served as MITRE’s executive director for national Security programs and led a team of experts in 2000 to support the Cyber Assurance National Information Center for the Y2K Information Coordination Center.

Over his career, he has worked with Defense Department organizations such as the Army, Navy and the National Security Agency.

Gagnon graduated from Fitchburg State College with a degree in computer science and is a member of the Advanced Cyber Security Center’s board of directors.
