Met Labs OKs Hughes Broadband Terminal for Hazardous Areas; Graham Avis Comments

Hughes logo_ExecutiveBizA Hughes Network Systems machine-to-machine satellite terminal has been certified by Met Laboratories for use in hazardous environments.

The Hughes 9502 M2M platform is built with an integrated antenna and works to operate over Inmarsat‘s broadband global area network service, Hughes said Tuesday.

“This important certification represents the fourth BGAN M2M terminal offered by Hughes, which underscores our commitment to the overall machine-to-machine market and the upstream energy segment in particular,” said Graham Avis, general manager of Hughes San Diego.

Hughes says the device is water-and dust-resistant and can be deployed in Class 1, Division 2, Groups A-D, and ATEX Zone 2, Group IIC, Category 3 locations.
