Mike Hamel Named Lockheed Commercial Space Ventures President

Lockheed-Martin-BlueMike Hamel, formerly a senior vice president at Orbital Sciences, has joined Lockheed Martin Space Systems as the new president of its commercial ventures division, Space News reported Thursday.

Warren Ferster writes that Hamel will lead the business unit’s division that develops telecommunications and remote sensing satellites for the commercial sector.

The retired U.S. Air Force lieutenant general and former Space and Missile Systems Center chief will succeed Linda Reiners, who has been appointed president of Lockheed corporate ventures.

Hamel most recently served as SVP corporate strategy and relations at Orbital, according to the report.
