The information technology business unit of General Dynamics has been chosen by the Office of the Secretary of Defense to receive the performance-based logistics award for 2013.
General Dynamics Information Technology won the award for its work on the U.S. Marine Corps. combat operating center program, the company announced Thursday.
The company and the Marine Corps Systems Command and Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Atlantic team was able to deliver and implement 260 COC comprehensive logistical planning systems.
“As the prime industry partner on the Combat Operations Center sustainment program, we are honored to work alongside these government agencies and be included in this recognition,” said Bernie Guerry, General Dynamics Information Technology senior vice president for Intelligence Solutions division.
Through the approach, the team was able to reduce operations and sustainment costs by 21% or $7.1 million; reduce forward-deployed support personnel by 38%; and improve system availability by more than 90%.
