The Patrick Henry Community College is now certified as a Siemens partner school, giving its students access to the company’s standards in electrical, mechanical and computer engineering.
PHCC received the Mechatronics Certification which allows its PHCC Science, Technology and Mathematics program instructors to teach the course, the school announced Friday.
Course students must complete five classes and pass an exam to earn the industry certification as Siemens certified mechatronic systems assistant.
“PHCC General Engineering and Industrial Electronics students who earn the certification will be qualified to perform the high tech mechanical engineering, electronics and computer applications in an advanced manufacturing environment,” said Steve Branch, dean of PHCC STEM.
