More than 3,000 local students participated in the science, technology, engineering and Lockheed Martin sponsored math events that took place Feb. 16 to 22, the company announced Thursday.
“It is innovation with purpose that drives us at Lockheed Martin,” said Jeff Pridmore, Lockheed Martin vice president and deputy of technical operations and applied research.
“In Central Florida, our National Engineers Week activities and STEM outreach provide students with a glimpse of the game-changing technologies and problem solving that our scientists, technologists and engineers are focused on every day,” he added.
During the week, 300 students competed in the FIRST Robotics competition and Lockheed Martin employee volunteers visited elementary and middle schools in the region to conduct hands-on engineering activities.
