‘The Workers’ Awarded $114K to Develop Video Streaming Robots

medical robotA design studio in the U.K. has been awarded approximately $114,000 to develop a system for controlling four robots that would roam through an art museum in London and stream what they see to online users, Wired reported Thursday.

Olivia Solon writes “The Workers” will work to build four machines with lights and cameras and create a system where people can control the robots to explore the Tate Britain museum.

“The dependencies across the various parts are minimal. i.e. the video streaming software will not depend on the motion control and so forth,” the team said to Wired.

The three-person team will receive the funds after winning the museum’s first-ever IK Prize, which recognizes creative achievement in the digital industry, according to Wired.
