Lockheed Martin and the Alliance to Save Energy have selected five schools from Maryland county school districts that have each won $1,000 from a competition intended to inspire students to advocate energy efficiency to friends and family.
The winners of the PowerSavers Challenge were chosen from 21 schools and more than 100 students, Lockheed Martin announced Monday.
Besides the cash prize, the winners’s pledge campaign and videos will be posted on the Alliance to Save Energy’s website and receive training and support from the foundation with a behind the scenes tour at the upcoming USA Science and Engineering Festival.
The winners of the competition are Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart, St. Martin’s Lutheran School, Southern Middle School, Southern High School and South River High School.
“The PowerSavers Challenge was a great opportunity for Lockheed Martin and the Alliance to Save Energy to create awareness with students about how energy savings is essential to our daily lives,” said Frank Armijo, Lockheed Martin vice president of energy solutions.
