Lockheed, Conrad Foundation Name Winners of Innovation Summit

Lockheed-Martin-BlueThe Conrad Foundation has announced the winners of its 2014 Innovation Summit, which was presented by Lockheed Martin.

The four teams of highschool students who won, showcased their work in the aerospace and aviation, cybertechnology and security, energy and environment and health and nutrition categories, winning a total of $47,500 in awards, The Conrad Foundation announced Wednesday.

The foundation chose 20 finalists from more than 385 entries to attend the event at Houston Space Center from April 6 to April 8. The winning teams are composed of students from North Carolina and Ohio.

With the final goal of creating commercially-viable products, students aged 13 to 18 competed in the annual business and technical plan competition promoting science, technology, engineering and math.

“These teams are an outstanding example of the capabilities of this innovation generation,” said Nancy Conrad, Conrad Foundation founder and chairman.

“Each year, we are awed by the ingenuity and passion students bring to the design process, the quality of their innovations. We are honored to be a part of helping bring their solutions to market,” she added.

Other sponsors of the event include Battelle, PepsiCo., Air Liquide, and Mondelez International.
