Steve Schooner serves as Nash & Cibinic professor of government procurement law and co-director of the government procurement law program at the George Washington University Law School.
He also served as senior associate dean for academic affairs of the Law School between 2006 and 2008.
Schooner joined GWU’s faculty in 1998 after a stint at the Office of Federal Procurement Policy, where he served as associate administrator for procurement law and legislation.
Prior to OFPP, he worked a trial and appellate attorney in the Justice Department‘s commercial litigation branch.
The retired U.S. Army reserve officer has also served as an active duty judge advocate, commissioner at the Armed Services Board of Contract Appeals and an adjunct professor in the contract and fiscal law department of the Judge Advocate General’s School.
Schooner, a certified professional contracts manager, is a fellow of the National Contract Management Association and also serves on the board of directors of the Procurement Round Table.
He holds a master’s of law degree from GWU, a juris doctorate degree from William and Mary and a bachelor’s degree from Rice University.
