Raytheon and the Student Veterans of America will provide $10,000 educational grants to two U.S. Army servicemen under a new scholarship program that the defense contractor launched this week.
The Raytheon Patriot Scholarship aims to help returning soldiers reestablish themselves academically as civilians, the company said Tuesday.
The grant is named after Raytheon’s Patriot air and missile defense system used in 12 countries worldwide.
“The Raytheon Patriot Scholarship honors and aids military heroes who have selflessly served their country,” said Ralph Acaba, vice president of integrated air and missile defense for Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems.
“Our goal is to provide Army student veterans with the resources they need to succeed academically and ultimately, in civilian life.”
SVA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit coalition of 1,100 college campus organizations around the world.
