Executive Profile: Melissa Koskovich, Leidos VP for Communications and Marketing

koskovich_melissa_smallMelissa Koskovich serves as vice president for communications and marketing at Leidos, where she oversees the company’s communications, branding and advertising activities.

Koskovich joined Leidos in 2006 — when it was known as Science Applications International Corp. — and helped to execute the company’s initial public offering.

She later acted as lead communicator for Project Gemini — the separation of SAIC into two publicly-traded companies that concluded in late 2013.

She previously served as VP and director of media relations for SAIC and served the U.S. Air Force‘s public affairs organization for 10 years.

Koskovich is also a veteran of the U.S. mission to enforce a no-fly zone over Iraq between 1997 and 2003, as well as the 2001 war in Afghanistan and 2003 war in Iraq.

For the latter conflict, she served as a liasion to the embedded journalists in Iraq and worked with the commander of air forces for U.S. Central Command.

At Leidos, she oversees the $2.1 million annual philanthropic program for K-12 STEM education, national security families, ethics and leadership and basic needs in Leidos communities.

Koskovich holds bachelor’s degrees in both communication and Asian studies and an M.B.A. from the University of Maryland.

She also holds associate’s degrees in public affairs and aircraft armament systems technology.
