Lockheed Martin came in as the top-ranked aerospace and defense contractor in the 2015 edition of Military Times’ annual “Best for Vets” list, which evaluates how companies recruit and retain veterans for their workforces.
Military Times submitted a survey of at least 80 questions potential candidates for the list to find out about their requirements for specific jobs, how they on-board veterans, frequency and scope of training, policies for hires of military spouses and any awards from the Defense Department for efforts to recruit veterans.
Teri Matzkin, manager of military relations and strategic sourcing for talent acquisition at Lockheed, told Military Times the company sends a group of five veterans to more than 200 events for transitioning soldiers per year in order to identify both active and former troops for potential jobs at Lockheed.
“Now the competition is even more intense for this type of talent. We must continue to look for every means… to attract and retain them.”
Lockheed ranked third overall on the list behind top-ranked Verizon and second-ranked USAA, with BAE Systems and Charles Schwab & Co. respectively in fourth and fifth.

- ManTech International at number 15
