Retired U.S. Army Gen. Peter Chiarelli has received the first-ever Dr. Jennifer and Dr. Jack London Medal for Distinguished Service in recognition of his efforts in the diagnosis and treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury.

CACI International said Monday Executive Chairman Jack London presented the award to Chiarelli during the Comfort for America’s Uniformed Services organization’s Veterans Day Gala held Thursday in Arlington, Va.

The Dr. Jennifer and Dr. Jack London Medal for Distinguished Service seeks to acknowledge individuals who provide support for wounded soldiers and their families.

“Dr. London’s championship of veterans has benefited countless transitioning military members and veteran support organizations,” said Ken Asbury, CACI president and CEO.

“Through his efforts, CACI’s support continues CAUSE’s outstanding work assisting veterans and their families,” he added.

Other speakers at the event include Jack Keane, a retired Army general and former vice chief of staff of the service branch; and Joe Reeder, former undersecretary of the Army.

John Caldwell, a retired Army lieutenant general and president of the CAUSE board of directors, led the award presentation.
