Tim Paynter Named Northrop Strategic Comms VP

Tim Paynter, director of communications at Northrop Grumman, has been selected to succeed the retiring Randy Belote as vice president of strategic communications.

Paynter’s appointment will take effect Jan. 21 and he will report to Lisa Davis, corporate VP of communications, Northrop said Wednesday.

Paynter will serve as the firm’s principal spokesperson, oversee media coverage for the company and facilitate communications with Northrop’s corporate business development divisions.

He has served in various communications leadership positions in support of international and marketing communications since joining Northrop in 2005.

He previously worked at EADS North America, now known as Airbus Group, as senior manager of corporate communications and served as a chief journalist in the U.S. Navy for 10 years.

Paynter is a recipient of numerous awards that include the Defense Meritorious Service medal and the U.S. Navy Broadcast Journalist of the Year award.
