Raytheon will sponsor a national cybersecurity competition for college students from more than 220 schools in the U.S.

The company said Thursday it will serve as a title sponsor of the National Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition over the next three years and provide technical resources, mentors and employee volunteers to help develop students’ skills.

Dave Wajsgras, president of Raytheon’s intelligence, information and services business, said NCCDC aims to educate future cyber defense professionals and prepare them for threats in the real world.

Wajsgras is a recipient of Executive Mosaic‘s Wash100 for 2017.

NCCDC Director Dwayne Williams said more than 14,000 students have participated in CCDC events over the past 11 years.

This year’s competition will begin with 10 regional contests in March and April and regional winners will compete in the national tournament in San Antonio, Texas from April 13 to 15.
